RADNOR TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) — Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a shooting and car crash that shut down the northbound Blue Route (Interstate 476) for several hours on Friday afternoon.
Police say the shooting happened just after 12:30 pm near mile marker 12.0. I-476 was closed while police tried to gather evidence from the shooting.
Chopper 3 captured police walking on the highway during their search.
After arriving, troopers said they found a blue Honda Civic crashed on a hill next to the right shoulder. Medics treated the Honda driver, a 62-year-old man, for injuries on the scene.
Investigators also found a 41-year-old father and his 8-year-old son at the scene.
Through their investigation, officials found the 62-year-old shot at the father and son’s car while they were both driving on I-476. The cars crashed into each other sending the Honda over into the grass.
The father and son were not injured in the shooting or the crash, officials said. The 62-year-old man was taken to Paoli Hospital for injuries.
Traffic was delayed for nearly two hours but resumed normal activity in both directions shortly before 3 pm
